Born during the initial worldwide lockdown and incubated as the seasons passed, doom metal supergroup MMXX began as the sound of global isolation. Not unlike the pandemic itself, MMXX has long harbored an unseen chapter: The Next Wave. First single, 'Alone' is an anthemic five-minute funeral march featuring the unmistakable Mick Moss (Antimatter, Sleeping Pulse). The full three song EP includes the metallic and driving 'Isolation' featuring Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow the Sun), and the melancholic and ethereal 'Echoes' featuring Alicia Nurho. The Next Wave EP will be released on vinyl by Candlelight Records and like its 2022 full-length predecessor Sacred Cargo, contains stunning artwork from Portuguese fine-art photographer Henri Prestes.

WOW! This album strikes like a thunderclap and throws you into a churning hailstorm interspersed with glorious color as the light refracts from the crystals. A howling, turbulent, thrashing sea and pelting rainy gale upon the rocky mountainside. Enslaved also maintain their crown of “progressive:” not wanky noodly noodly stuff, but thought-provoking, unexpected, and COLORFUL shifts and turns of rhythm, chord, key, and mood. Very Rush-like. A true privilege to see them at Fire in the Mountains.

I never cared about symphonic metal at all. I do very much care about folk as well as progressive metal, and so I couldn't resist after reading the third exceptional AMG review for Wilderun in a row. 'Sleep...' has been on my radar for quite some time, being graced by one of the most beckoning cover arts I have ever seen. The band more than lives up to its reputation, composing great musical pieces from start to finish. I absolutely love the multitude of influences being put together here.

Well this is officially, by far the most beautiful album I've ever heard in doom metal. The drumming work is so original and innovative, especially in doom metal. The woodwinds and the violins are such a nice touch. The growls are so haunting. I love their transitions to the heavy instrumentation with the growls to the soft, melancholic clean passages. The clean voices are amazing and the melodies chosen in the voices are quite different and added a whole new emotion to the songs
